Chronicle: Harry Bud Nelson

Longtime radio programmer, record executive and manager Harry "Bud" Nelson passed away Friday (6/4). He was 71. Nelson was a noted Pop personality and programmer for many years before his entry into Country in 1993 at WCLB/Boston. He later programmed WBCS/Boston and WPOR/Portland, ME. He was GM for Ride Records upon its launch in 2008, and in 2013 he launched Harry Nelson Artist Management. A fund to help offset funeral expenses has been set up here. A memorial service is being planned for later this summer.

Former WRNS/Greenville, NC PD Tommy Garrett passed away June 5. He was 46. Garrett did mornings at WWGR/Ft. Myers before starting at WRNS as MD in 2004. In 2011 he was elevated to PD. Garrett left WRNS in 2015 and moved to the Nashville area to pursue songwriting. See WRNS' tribute here. Services are pending.
