Bits & Pieces: WXTU/Philadelphia, KUZZ/Bakersfield, Frontier/Alaska

Beasley WXTU/Philadelphia morning co-host Jeff Kurkjian brought his “Classroom Covers” series, first made popular during his time in Cleveland then at KCYE/Las Vegas, to his new home in Philly with a visit to Twin Valley Middle School. Kurkjian arranged Dan + Shay’s “Glad You Exist” into an a cappella style for the school’s choir students to learn. Watch the performance here.

KUZZ/Bakersfield PD Brent Michaels is reminding listeners of the station’s upcoming “12 Guitars Of Christmas” promotion by poking fun at himself in a newly released social media video. Check out the clever marketing idea here.

Frontier Media/Alaska Dir./Programming Chuck Geiger tells Country Aircheck the Juneau, AK cluster that includes Country KTKU exceeded their goal during their Nov. 19 26th Caring Is Sharing Food Drive to benefit the Southeast Alaska Food Bank. “We made history this year raising 32,500 pounds of non-perishable food, up from 22,200 pounds last year,” says Geiger. Adds Pres./CEO Richard Burns, “Think about it like this: we raised one pound of food for every person in Juneau.”
