Chronicle: Edwards

Country Radio Hall of Fame personality and programmer "Eddie Edwards" Drennan passed away today (6/19). He was 75. The San Diego native was a third generation entertainer whose father performed in bands on West Coast radio shows. Edwards' first radio job was in Barstow, CA, and his career included stops at XEPRS-AM/San Diego, WMC-AM/Memphis, WSIX/Nashville, KLAC-AM/Los Angeles, KAJA/San Antonio and KEBC/Oklahoma City. However, he is most well known for his 25 year run at WNOE/New Orleans, where he spent time in mornings, afternoons and as PD. Since departing WNOE in 2017, he's handled mornings at WUUU/Covington, LA. Edwards was named the ACM Personality of the Year in 1986, and CMA Medium Market Personality of the Year in 1987, both for his work at WSIX, and was inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame in 2013; read his story in his own words here. No word on services.
