Life Notes: Christie Matthews, Mark Chesnutt, Bill Tatar, Jeff Winfield

Jones Radio Group/Jonesboro, AR GSM & Country KDXY midday personality Christie Matthews has returned to her on-air duties after an extended absence while being treated for Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells, with which she was diagnosed in January (CAT 3/2). Matthews underwent both cancer treatments and a full hip replacement surgery. “So excited to get back on the radio!” she shares via Facebook, along with the hashtag #ShortHairDontCare. Artist Mark Chesnutt and his wife, Tracie, have tested positive for COVID-19 amid Chesnutt’s ongoing recovery from back surgery that forced him to cancel tour dates beginning in July (CAT 7/7). “Thank you all for the continuous prayers,” says Chesnutt in a health update posted to Facebook. No word on the severity of his coronavirus case.

Cox/Houston Dir./Promotions & Digital Content Bill Tatar is mourning the passing of his father, William A. Tatar, who died Aug. 13 at the age of 76. “There’s that saying, ‘He never met a stranger,’ [and] that applied to my dad [tenfold],” says Tatar via Facebook. The family will receive friends Aug. 18 from 3-4:30pm ET at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home (1312 Graham Ave., Windber, PA 15963) with funeral service following.
