MIW Group Gender Analysis Study 2020

The Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio (MIW) group has released its Gender Analysis Study, which tracks the progress of female professionals holding GM, Sales Mgr. and PD positions. The 2019 calendar year study is reflective of 11,225 AM and FM radio stations nationwide and shows that 19.5% of stations employed a female GM, up from 19.05% in 2018; 33.1% have a woman as Sales Mgr., up from 32.6% in 2018; and 11.62% are programmed by a female PD, up from 10.6% in 2018, marking the first time the number has shown growth in 14 years. "When the numbers on our annual analysis rise, as they did slightly this year, we work even harder to encourage and mentor our female colleagues who are striving for, and/or have achieved, management positions in radio," says MIW Group spokeswoman Denyse Mesnik.
