Chronicle: Freeman

Industry vet Barry Freeman passed away Jan. 10 in Palm Springs, CA following a brief illness. He was 83. Freeman, who suffered two heart attacks in 2018 (CAT 4/2/18), retired in 2008 after 52 years in the music industry. His career stops included Coral Records, United Artists Decca, Kapp, MGM, Capitol, Atlantic and Westwood One, among others. Freeman moved to Nashville in 1994 as Network 40 Bureau Chief & VP/Country. After a two-year run with the trade publication, he returned to radio to helm ABC Radio Networks' Nashville offices.
