BMI Responds To DoJ Filing

A filing today by the Department of Justice indicates the agency will pursue "whole work" licensing in an appeal of a Sept. 2016 federal court decision upholding BMI's longstanding fractional licensing of musical works. BMI President/CEO Mike O’Neill states, "We still hope for the opportunity to sit down with the new administration and educate it about the chaos that would result in the marketplace if the DOJ’s interpretation of BMI’s consent decree were implemented.
