Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio's (MIW) 2016 Gender Analysis Study of 11,229 AM and FM radio stations shows 17.8% (1,944) have women in GM positions. That's roughly in line with 2015 (17.3%), but up significanly from 2004 (14.9%). Sales still provides the best management opportunities for women as 31.5% of sales managers were female. The greatest challenge is still in the programming department with women programming just 10.7% of all stations. The percentage is slightly higher in the top 100 markets, where women represent 12.2% of programmers. More here.
