Haggard Movie In Works

Merle Haggard's widow Theresa is working on a script with director Robin Bissell for Amazon Studios based on the memoir Sing Me Back Home. The title character will be played by actor Sam Rockwell, who will also do his own singing, and Bissell and Haggard will co-produce. The biopic "recounts Haggard's rise to fame from his Dust Bowl beginnings through his detour to San Quentin and gives a scathing, behind-the-scenes account of the alcohol, drugs, sex, and money that makes the country-western world spin." "I promised my late husband, Merle Haggard, that I would get this done and I’m giving it my best shot," Haggard shared on Facebook. "I hope to bring him the glory he so deserves."
